Mairol AquaDepot – The Water Reservoir for Potting Soil  

Prolonged heat and dry summers take a toll on plants. Anyone who can't water daily notices it first in the window box and the planter. Mairol AquaDepot is a granulate that stores water exactly where it's needed: right at the roots.

The sponge-like structure of the granulate (grain size approx. 6 mm when dry) swells upon absorbing water and stores up to 30 times its own weight in water. The water and the nutrients dissolved in it are then made available to the plant as needed, rather than draining away unused. During dry periods, the sponge structure recedes, then swells again after the next watering. Plants can root through the granulate.

What Changes in Everyday Use

The substrate stays moist longer, extending the intervals between waterings. At the same time, AquaDepot loosens the soil, improves aeration, and prevents waterlogging – keeping the water balance stable. The granulate remains effective for up to 3 years.

For Indoor and Outdoor Use

Suitable for all plants grown in soil: flower beds, raised beds, window boxes, planters, and grave plantings. Particularly useful for new plantings, since a balanced water supply makes it easier for plants to establish themselves.

Highly Resistant to Salts and Root-Friendly

After direct application of fertilizer or nitrate, the volume of the sponge structure shrinks by about 30%, while the structure itself remains intact. AquaDepot chemically and physically binds substances directly within the application zone, reducing the leaching of salts. Plants can root through the granulate and absorb water along with the nutrients dissolved in it.

Composition and Biodegradation

Mairol AquaDepot is made from natural materials and contains no animal-derived ingredients. Biodegradation: 26% after 28 days (OECD 302 B).

Application

• 10 g per 1 liter of soil, or 50–100 g per m²
• AquaDepot should be covered with about 5 cm of soil
• Apply near the plant's root zone
• A dual measuring spoon is included with the package

Our tip: Let the granulate soak and swell in a bucket or container of water first, then mix it into the soil.
